Full Professor in Geophysics at the University of Indonesia
Prof. Abdul Haris is an esteemed academic and university administrator from Indonesia. He has held various significant positions, including Deputy for Empowerment of Village Communities, Underdeveloped Areas, and Certain Regions in the Coordinating Ministry for Social Empowerment since December 2024. His extensive experience in academia and administration has made him a prominent figure in Indonesia's educational landscape.
Please note that Professor Abdul Haris was the Founder of the University and He is now the Geophysicist and Academic Administrator at the University of Indonesia after leaving the post of Chairperson of Stia Abdul Haris.
Prof. Abdul Haris was born on September 21, 1970, in Pemalang, Central Java, Indonesia. He completed his undergraduate and master's degrees in physics at the University of Indonesia in 1992 and 1995, respectively. Pursuing further studies, he earned his doctorate in geophysics from Kiel University in Germany in 2002. His doctoral research focused on amplitude preserving pre-stack depth migration and its application to imaging of BSR in marine multi-channel seismic reflection data.
Throughout his career, Prof. Haris has held various academic and administrative positions, including Dean of the Faculty of Math and Natural Sciences at the University of Indonesia, Deputy Rector for Research and Innovation, and Deputy Rector for Academic and Student Affairs. In March 2024, he was appointed as the Director General for Higher Education, Research, and Technology, and later in December 2024, he assumed the role of Deputy for Empowerment of Village Communities, Underdeveloped Areas, and Certain Regions.
